The Elizabeth Forward School District has filed a lawsuit against its insurance provider stating that legal action became necessary following the insurer’s “continued failure to adequately address damages and fund the rebuild of the high school following the February 2023 fire.”
According to the release, “The District, advised by its board’s solicitor John Rushford, has engaged special counsel David Strassburger of Strassburger, McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky to manage the litigation,” the release states.
The district noted that the decision to sue follows lengthy attempts to resolve the issue outside the courtroom. The release explains that the lawsuit comes “Despite extensive efforts over many months, the District has been unable to secure a fair and timely resolution for the insurance claim.”
The release states that the Elizabeth Forward School Board is committed to pursuing all necessary legal avenues.
